Deputy Sheriff David Fant (1961 -2018)
David was born August 17, 1961 to Claude & Julie Fant. He attended Taft High School, graduating in 1979.
Dave attended the Ohio Highway Patrol Police Academy in Columbus in 1984 and then joined the Hamilton Police Department as a Police Officer.
During 1997, Officer Fant transferred to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy Sheriff. While there, he also served in the Madison School District, known as Deputy Dave, their school resource officer. He retired during 2010, with 26 years of service to his community and county.
About 2009, Deputy Fant was diagnosed with a brain tumor. After a long, courageous battle, he passed away, surrounded by family, at 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2018.
Deputy Fant is survived by his wife Cindy (Treadway) Fant; children, Matthew (Katie) Fant, Rachel (Matt) Helmers, and Jessie Fant; grandson Landon David Fant; and sisters Laura (John) Luken and Jenny (John) Gillman.
Visitation will be held 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Webster Funeral Home at 3080 Homeward Way in Fairfield. A joint Fraternal Order of Police service with Lodges 101 and 38 will held at 7 p.m., followed by a funeral service with Pastor Nathan Heady officiating. A celebration of life will take place 5 to 10 p.m. on Friday, October 12, 2018 at the FOP Lodge at 180 Joe Nuxhall Way in Hamilton.
