Bill was born October 27, 1947 to Mr. and Mrs. William J. Daugherty, Sr.  He graduated from Anderson High School in 1965 and attended the University of Cincinnati, majoring in Industrial Management, until 1968.

After high school, he worked part time at Jack Merz Pro Shop on Asbury Road.  During 1969 he went to work with the United Parcel Service.

Bill joined the Cincinnati Police Division on May 4, 1969 as a Police Recruit.  He was promoted to Police Officer on August 17, 1969, issued Badge Number 575, and assigned to District 6 (3295 Erie Avenue).  Six years later, he transferred to District 7 (813 Beecher Street) and two years after that returned to Erie Avenue (by then District 2).  Also about 1975, Officer Daugherty joined the original Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team in and served there into the 1990s.  He retired November 4, 1995 with 26½ years of service and 30 letters of appreciation and/or commendation.

Officer Daugherty was diagnosed with, and under oral treatment for, Prostate Cancer.  On February 28, 2018, he went to his bedroom to take a nap and his wife found him peacefully deceased in bed.
