Police Chief Eugene “Gene” Robinson (1932-2018)

Gene was born March 1, 1932 in Lockland; the 6th of 7 children born to Ernest B. and Lenora Robinson.  He attended Lockland High School, graduating about 1950.

After high school, during the Korean War, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, from which he was honorably discharged.

Gene joined the Lockland Police Department about 1956.  He was later promoted to Sergeant.  In 1979 he topped the examination for Police Chief and was duly promoted.  He retired August 6, 1985 with 29 years of service to Lockland.

Chief Robinson passed away on February 17, 2018 at the age of 85.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Elizabeth “Liz” (Wellage) Robinson.  Chief Robinson is survived by his wife of 63 years, Delores (Mynatt) Robinson; son, Michael (Mary) Robinson; son-in-law Tom Wellage; grandchildren, Kristy (Joe Fletcher) Robinson, Michelle (Goran) Pivelja, and Kelly (Kevin) Wright; and great grandchildren, Braden Pivelja and Cooper Fletcher.

Visitation will be held 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at the Mihovk-Rosenacker Funeral Home at 10211 Plainfield Road.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
